Tennis tourney comes to Santa Maria Country ClubBY JEREMY THOMASMore than 100 of the best young tennis players from all over the state will head to Santa Maria Country Club to take part in the 23rd annual Grand Prix Junior Tournament July 4 to 6. Boys and girls ages 10 to 18 will vie for $5,000 cash and trophies during the weekend event, which is sanctioned by the United States Tennis Association of Southern California. Play starts at 9 a.m. each day and is free for the public to attend. Tennis courts at St. Joseph and Righetti high schools will also host matches as part of the event. The final round will take place at the country club at 505 W. Waller Lane. For more information, contact the Santa Maria Country Club at 937-3222. |
