Allan Hancock College soccer coach to step down

Head coach for the Allan Hancock College women’s soccer program, Rod Garcia, is retiring after seven years of leadership.

Garcia hopes to take this time to focus more on his family. Garcia moved to Orange County with his family before this season and drove back and forth for practices and games. He drove nearly 5,000 miles this season.

“One thing is for sure, Rod cares about his student-athletes as individuals,” Hancock Athletic Director Kim Ensing said in a press release.  “We will miss him dearly for that.”

Garcia’s proudest moment came when the team recovered from a win-less season and came back to win 10 games in 2011.

“I am proud to have been a part of the Bulldog family for the last seven years,” he said.

His replacement hasn’t been determined yet.
