THE SANTA MARIA RECREATION AND PARKS DEPARTMENT presents a “Skateboarding Intro at the Skatepark” with Miguel Garcia June 2 through July 14 and July 21 through Sept. 1 at the Fletcher Park Skate Park, Santa Maria. A “Youth Basketball Clinic” is June 9 through July 2 for ages 7 to 9 and 10 to 12 at the Edwards Community Center, Santa Maria. A coed Youth Basketball Clinic for grades 1 through 8 is starts pratices June 22. Registration deadline is May 28. Cost is $32.50, $40 for non-residents. A Youth Volleyball Clinic is July 7 through 30 for kids 7 to 10 and 11 to 13 at the Edwards Community Center, Santa Maria. Cost is $27, $33.50 for non-residents. A 3-on-3 Basketball Hoopfest Tournament with a registration deadline June 12 and the competition June 20 at 9 a.m. at Pioneer Valley High School, Santa Maria. Cost is $75 a team. THE SANTA MARIA NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM presents LA County Natural History Museum’s Brent Karner with a live insect presentation June 6 from noon to 2 p.m. The National Forest Service’s Jeremy Teitelbaum presents a live snake and other animal presentation Aug. 1 from noon to 2 p.m. A Bee presentation is Sept. 5 from noon to 2 p.m. The Natural History Museum is located at 412 S McClelland, Santa Maria.
