Each January, we put out a volunteers issue, but with another year of COVID-19 in the rearview mirror, it seems especially important this time around to pay homage to those who continued to give their time to help others. This week, Staff Writer Taylor O’Connor speaks with a woman who’s volunteered at Marian Regional Medical Center for more than two decades, highlighting the gaps that volunteers fill at the hospital; and Peter Johnson from the Sun’s sister paper, New Times, speaks with the Los Padres Forest Association about the ways in which its volunteers help maintain recreational access in the national forest.
