Since his retirement from Hancock College in 1988, Bill Shinn has become internationally recognized both in Painting and Ceramics. He has had over 40 years of art experience beginning in the late 50's at the Academy Julian and Sorbonne in Paris, France. Bill later received a Bachelors Degree in Painting and a Masters Degree in Ceramics at UCLA.
During his career, Shinn has traveled extensively in the USA, Europe, Japan and Russia, furthering his art experience and recognition. His work has recently been featured in Ceramics Monthly and Pottery Making Illustrated, in which he has become a regular contributer. He continues to teach, offering Ceramics workshops in various techniques throughout the United States and Canada. Shinn's experimentation with the ceramic extruder has produced many award-winning pieces in both National and International shows including: the 48th International Ceramic Competition in Faenza, Italy, The Fletcher Challenge Ceramic Award Competition in Auckland, New Zealand, and the World Ceramic Exposition in Korea.
