Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital continues to present a series of free nutrition and diabetes wellness classes, held every Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. in the front conference room at the hospital at 2050 Viborg Road in Solvang. Clinical Dietitian Stacey Bailey teaches the classes. No RSVP is required, and participants are encouraged to bring their own lunch to enjoy during the class. The upcoming schedule is: • Sept. 19: Fiber Facts—How Much is Enough? Too Much? • Sept. 26: Portion Control • Oct. 3: Diabetes and Heart Health • Oct. 10: No class this day • Oct. 17: Vegetarian Nutrition • Oct. 24: Shake the Salt Habit • Oct. 31: Gluten-Free Diet (Happy Halloween!) Bailey joined Cottage Health System as a clinical dietitian in August 2011. She provides both in-patient and out-patient dietary management and counseling services, and helps with meal and menu planning; specifically for Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital. One-on-one nutrition sessions with Bailey are also available with a doctor’s referral. For more information, contact her directly at 688-6431, Ext. 72351.
