Become a literacy tutor

The Central Coast Literacy Center has a lot of new centers opening in August and September and needs some volunteers to help teach people to read and write English.

• Team teaching at C&D Zodiac employee classes, in Santa Maria Tuesday and Thursday from 5 to 6 p.m. Center director Carol Dykstra.

• Center director/tutor at Hardy Diagnostics, employee classes, in Santa Maria on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

• Team teaching/tutor at Housing Authority of Santa Barbara County in Los Alamos on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 to 10 a.m. (other times available).

• Co-Tutor/assistant at Central Plaza Apartments, in Santa Maria on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

• Team teaching/tutor at Riverside Townhomes in Guadalupe on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

There’s also a list of learners seeking one-to-one tutors.
