STEM and STEAM exposition moving to Lompoc High

The 30th annual Central Coast Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Exposition will be held May 29 and 30 at the Lompoc High School gym.

This year’s event includes a STEAM Festival—with an A for art added to STEM—on May 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the cafeteria. Attendees will be able to engage in creative hands-on activities sponsored by groups that include UCSB, Cabrillo High School Aquarium, SpaceX, Santa Barbara Sky Dive, high school students, and teacher groups. The Department of Justice’s Bureau of Forensic Services will provide a look into the world of CSI, and the Orcutt Academy High School Spartatroniks Team will be giving hands-on demos of their competition robot.

The STEM Expo will culminate Saturday evening with an awards reception where more than $1,000 in cash prizes and awards will be presented. The event is sponsored by The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Vandenberg Section, and keynote speakers will include Col. Todd Schollars, the 30th Mission support squadron commander at Vandenberg Airforce Base.
