Softec wants a packed house for upcoming Robotics Expo

Softec is putting out a call for robots galore. The sixth annual Student Robotics Expo is set for Sept. 29 at the Elks Lodge in San Luis Obispo.

“Help us pack this event full of robots,” a press release from Softec said.

There is a place for every kind of robot at the expo—competitive, personal hobby, and industry robots, as well as those built by kindergarten through 12th-grade and college students. The event will feature local high school, elementary, and college robotics teams.

Attendance for the event has almost doubled each year, with last year having more than 350 people in attendance. Local and international robotics companies, universities, and robotics enthusiasts will have booths set up, giving people a chance to see innovative technology up close.

Softec has sponsored high school robotics teams since 2004 and awarded more than $25,000 in grants.

“We strongly believe that this event helps excite young minds about the technology industry,” the press release said.
