U.S. Rep. Lois Capps (D-Santa Barbara) has endorsed Hilda Zacarias’s campaign for the open 33rd Assembly District seat being vacated by Sam Blakeslee. The Congresswoman’s office announced the endorsement in a press release on March 3. “I am pleased to offer Hilda my endorsement. Throughout her life, she has shown a commitment to improving her community and has a proven record of accomplishment,” Capps said in the release. “I know that Hilda will represent the people of the 33rd Assembly District with the same dedication and skill that we have seen during her time as a member of the Santa Maria Union High School District Board of Trustees and, most recently, as a Santa Maria City Council member.” Zacarias currently serves as Santa Maria City Council member and mayor pro tem. A former public accountant and educator, she is the executive director of the Santa Barbara Family Care Center, which serves to increase the quality and quantity of child care. “I am honored to receive the support of Congresswoman Lois Capps,” Zacarias responded in the release. “We share a commitment to rebuilding our communities and recreating the American Dream for the children, families, and working men and women of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties. It is vital that we send new leadership to Sacramento with new ideas and a real commitment to fixing our state’s problems. The status quo is no longer acceptable.” For more information about Zacarias’s campaign for the 33rd Assembly District, visit hildazacarias.com. |
