A dash of the surreal

Weekly Poll
What's your opinion of special elections?

If we need them, we need them. Go democracy!
I'm generally for them on a case-by-case basis.
There's nothing special about them.
We're wasting $6 million on WHAT?!?

The hardest working cats in the biz

BY HENRY HOUSTON

Live on a large, pastoral plot? Having a bit of a rodent infestation problem? Can’t afford to hire a professional to get rid of the little pests?

Think of this as a letter of recommendation. Santa Barbara County Animal Services is looking for people to take in feral and semi-feral cats.

These felines, which have been neglected by society, reverted into a wild state of mind after having to hunt for their food.

Potential caretakers, take note: The cats must be going to a location with a barn, warehouse, or other form of shelter, so they can be protected from the dangers of weather and the perils of predators. The cats won’t be able to live in a household.

The cats will all be spayed and neutered and will have been inspected to ensure that they’re healthy. New owners can’t just forget about the animals, though. They still need their basic needs cared for.

Anyone who employs the cats for work will be given instruction on how to care for their furry workers.
