Two injured in Lompoc during possible gang shooting

By Kasey Bubnash

Two people were injured in Lompoc after what appears to be a gang-related shooting on Aug. 13, according to the Lompoc Police Department.

After receiving multiple reports of fired gunshots just before 5 p.m. that day, Lompoc Police found two individuals who had been shot and injured on the 700 block of North D Street. Both victims were treated at a local hospital, according to the Lompoc Police Department, and are currently in stable condition.

One victim, according to the department, is believed to have been an unrelated bystander.

Since Jan. 1 of this year, Lompoc police have investigated seven violent gang-related incidents, according to Public Information Officer Sgt. Kevin Martin.

The most recent shooting is still being investigated, Martin said, and no other details are being released at this time.
