Sheriff's deputies report arresting a Lompoc officer

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department recently reported that they had arrested 29-year-old Matthew Lee Hill, a Lompoc Police officer, on suspicion of assault.

According to a press release from department spokesperson Kelly Hoover, sheriff’s deputies assigned to the Lompoc substation responded to a call made by Vandenberg Village residents concerned about a domestic disturbance at neighboring residence. The deputies responded at 11:22 a.m., making contact with Hill—who was off duty—and his girlfriend.

After some investigation, the deputies determined that there had been an incident of domestic violence and arrested Hill. He was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail, then posted $25,000 bail and was released.

Calls to the Lompoc Police Department and the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office were not returned as of press time.
