Eclectic ensemble Ozomatli to perform at Presqu'ile Winery in Santa Maria

Salsa, hip-hop, rock, reggae, rap, funk. Is there anything Ozomatli doesn’t play? Members have come and gone throughout the three-time Grammy Award-winning group’s 24-year history, but the original six—Asdrubal Sierra (vocals, trumpet, piano), Wil-Dog Abers (bass), Raul Pacheco (guitar), Ulises Bella (saxophone), Jiro Yamaguchi (percussion), and Justin Poree (percussion)—are set to perform at Presqu’ile Winery in Santa Maria on Saturday, Sept. 14. Doors open at 6 p.m., and guests can look forward to hearing hits old and new, including their latest single: “El Otro Lado,” released in April of this year.

Advance tickets to the show are $27 for club members and $30 for non-members. Admission on the day of is $35 for all guests, regardless of club, creed, or condiment preference (food and wine will be available for purchase as well, FYI). Oops, except for kids ages 10 and under—they get in for free! Blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged, although no outside food or drinks are allowed. Babylon A.D.

Reggae group Babylon Rockers will perform at Cottonwood Canyon Vineyard and Winery in Santa Maria on Sunday, Sept. 15, from 1 to 5 p.m. Attendees can expect to hear a mixture of originals and covers, including lesser-known reggae gems, which the band hopes to shed some new light on. Some of the group’s chief influences include Bob Marley, Steel Pulse, Third World, and Busy Signal. The winery is located at 3940 Dominion Road, Santa Maria. Going south

Left never felt so right, in terms of good Americana at least—namely Santa Barbara-based Left Hand Lions, performing at Cold Spring Tavern on Friday, Sept. 13, from 6 to 9 p.m. Led by singer and principal songwriter Thomas Hopkins, this local band’s sound has been described as reminiscent to The Lumineers, Mumford & Sons, and The Dave Matthews Band.

HAVE A NICE TRIP : The Mac Talley Trip performs at the Cold Spring Tavern on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 5 to 8 p.m.

The tavern also hosts acoustic rock band Fort Taylor, CA on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 1 to 4 p.m. Eclectic group The Mac Talley Trip—known to blend Americana, folk, indie, pop, and rock—follow close after with a performance from 5 to 8 p.m. Varying influences of this six-piece outfit include the Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Radiohead, The Cure, Bob Dylan, and Leonard Cohen. Blues/rags artists Tom Ball and Kenny Sultan play their regular weekly gig on Sunday, Sept. 15, from 1:15 to 4 p.m., followed by local dance/rock band King Bee, who close out the tavern’s weekend lineup with a performance from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Entry to each show is free.

The Chumash Casino Resort presents two opportunities to see Luis Fonsi, on Friday, Sept. 13 and Saturday, Sept. 14. The Latin pop star is performing as part of his Vida World Tour, and both shows start at 8 p.m. Fans can expect to hear career defining hits like “Aqui Estoy Yo,” “Echame la Culpa,” “Despacito,” and others. Tickets to either concert range from $79 to $119.

Also in Santa Ynez, The Maverick Saloon hosts two country acts back-to-back this weekend: Dusty Jugz on Friday, Sept. 13, and the Tex Pistols on Saturday, Sept. 14. Both shows are free and run roughly from 8 to 11 p.m.

SLOCAL SOLO : SLO-based singer-songwriter Sherell Jane performs at Vino et Amicis Wine Bar on Friday, Sept. 13, from 7 to 10 p.m.

Vino et Amicis Wine Bar in Orcutt presents solo singer-guitarist Ron Miller on Thursday, Sept. 12, from 6 to 9 p.m. The bar also hosts SLO-based singer-songwriter Sherell Jane the following evening, Friday, Sept. 13, from 7 to 10 p.m. Entry to both performances is complimentary. LOMPOC LOCAL : Folk rock artist Jacob Cole will perform at Blast 825 Brewery on Sunday, Sept. 15, at noon.

Solo artist Doc Oliver will be performing at Blast 825 Brewery on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. Lompoc-based folk rock musician Jacob Cole will be taking the venue’s stage the following day, Sunday, Sept. 15, with a matinee performance at noon. Admission to both shows is free. Also in Orcutt, Naughty Oak Brewing Company presents acoustic act About Time, featuring Aaron Salazar and Caitlyn Vassaur, on Friday, Sept. 13, from 7 to 9 p.m. This local duo performs a blend of originals and covers of various genres, including blues, country, folk, pop, and rock. Entry is free, but grub from Lido’s will be available for purchase during the show (and before, starting at 5:30 p.m.).
