Pot or not

By August Salemi - Atascadero

A legal product called tobacco is freely sold nearly everywhere. People use tobacco for the pleasure that it provides. This product causes illness and death. Thousands dead every year.

A legal product called alcohol is freely sold nearly everywhere. People use alcohol for the pleasure that it provides. This product causes illness and death. Thousands dead every year.

A legal product called marijuana is not freely sold nearly everywhere. People use marijuana for the pleasure that it provides. This product does not cause illness or death. Its use ameliorates, even cures certain illnesses. Zero dead every year.

Yet marijuana remains federally illegal (the federal illegality is meaningless as it is in direct violation of Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution, as well as in violation of the 10th Amendment) and is subjected to draconian controls statewide and locally. The reason for this dichotomy is fear. One of the many beneficial attitude adjustments experienced by a consumer of marijuana includes questioning and disapproval of the rules, laws, and lies perpetrated by the government. Government officials are fearful of anyone who questions or challenges their rule. They will not allow any semblance of freedom to use marijuana, an herb that helps people to clearly see the stupidity of their regulations.

The severe suppression of marijuana use will continue and even escalate until “We the People” replace our current dictatorial regime that the representative republic upon which this nation was founded.
