I am a lifetime resident of this area and must comment strongly herein against the outrageous fireworks that plague the city of Santa Maria. I believe the nightmare has to stop. There was a time when fireworks were overlooked as they were thought of as all in good fun but no longer. Illegal fireworks explode throughout my neighborhood not only on New Year’s Eve and the Fourth of July, but throughout the year.
My animals are scared to death by the blasts. Returned veterans with PTSD suffer through the roar of the illegal explosions. It’s hard to determine on a nightly basis when and where the next blasts will sound off. We all know that legal fireworks are allowed, but we are hit with colossal amounts of illegal fireworks. Most cities ban fireworks both legal and illegal and the primary reason is the risk of FIRE.
It really is time that our city leaders take care of business and get this ban in place. Banish both legal and illegal fireworks in the city of Santa Maria please! Enough madness!
