Weekly Poll
How should local municipalities address the "sanctuary city" question?

They should be sanctuary cities, all the way.
We don't want sanctuary cities; they should work with ICE.
I think how they're doing it now works best.
Whatever doesn't get me deported!

County honors 'water wise' students

By JOE PAYNE

Santa Barbara County officials have awarded first-, second-, and third-place awards to local high school filmmakers who were challenged with the task of creating a film that illustrated how they conserved water for the “2013 WaterWise High School Video Contest.”
The first-place winner was a team of Pioneer Valley High School Students for their film Water Wise Ways. The second-place film, Keep Santa Barbara Water Wise, was made by Laguna Blanca students. Save Water, Be Happy by Dos Pueblos students took third place.
Another student team from Dos Pueblos won the “People’s Choice Award” for the competition for their film Bob’s Dilemma, which earned the distinction by accruing the most “likes” on the county’s facebook.com page for the event.
