The Santa Maria Fire Department is celebrating its centennial with a special event on March 30 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Santa Maria Historical Museum at 616 South Broadway, Santa Maria.

The event will feature a ribbon cutting ceremony of a new Santa Maria Fire Department historical exhibit, which will be open to view for the public. The event will also feature a Santa Maria-style barbecue featuring tri-tip sandwiches made by the Santa Maria Firefighters Local 2020. The sandwiches cost $9. A special commemorative coin costs $15, centennial shirts cost $20, and a commemorative SMFD bottle of wine is available for a $25 donation.

Proceeds from the event will support the Santa Maria Firefighters Benevolent Fund, which provides money to firefighters and their families in times of need. More information is available at 720-4050 or [email protected].
