Celebrate V-DayPCPA Theaterfest is celebrating V-Day, a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls, with a production of The Vagina Monologues in Santa Maria. All proceeds from the event will go toward the North County Rape Crisis and Child Protection Center. The Vagina Monologues was written by Eve Ensler, a playwright and activist who based the play off of interviews she conducted with women. The off-Broadway play became popular because it addresses women’s sexuality and the social stigma surrounding rape and abuse. The play is set to be performed March 4 at 7 p.m. in the Severson Theater at Allan Hancock College, 800 S. College, Santa Maria. Admission costs $10. More information is available at 922-2994 or amccarty94@verizon.net. |
