Prepare your chairBY JOE PAYNEAltrusa International Inc. of Santa Maria, along with the People for Leisure and Youth (PLAY, Inc.) and the Friends of the Santa Maria Library, has announced the second annual “Drop Everything and Read Painted Chair Event.” Each chair is to be painted to match the theme of a favorite book that either artists or a sponsor may choose, along with a dedicatee for the chair. The finished pieces will be raffled off March 23 through April 13 while they’re showing in the Santa Maria Town Center mall. Artists who’d like to participate by painting a chair may receive a chair or other item with a literacy theme or book title at the Santa Maria Town Center between Jan. 25 and 27, by appointment. People may sponsor a chair for $100 or $250. Information for artists is available from Donna Cota at 937-4807. More information is available at 925-0727 or jmacsmx@comcast.net. |
