The library and the Santa Maria Civic Theatre team up

The Friends of the Santa Maria Public Library are holding a fundraiser event featuring the Santa Maria Civic Theatre and its production of Over the River and Through the Woods on Dec. 9 at 2 p.m.

Written by Joe DiPietro, Over the River and Through the Woods is a story about a young man who must deal with the aftermath of telling his four grandparents he will be moving far away from them. The quartet quickly begins scheming ways to make him stay.

The play will be preceded by a reception with free refreshments including local wine at 1:15 p.m. and at intermission. Door prizes will also be given at intermission. Cost is $25. The Santa Maria Civic Theatre is located at 1660 N. McClelland St., Santa Maria. More info: 925-7116.
