The Orcutt Branch Library is closing its longtime location in favor of an expanded facility to better serve library goers in town. The current location in the Clark and Broadway shopping center in Orcutt will close its doors on Dec. 1 and will reopen in Old Town Orcutt’s Union Plaza development at 175 South Broadway on Dec. 8.
A collaborative effort on the part of the city of Santa Maria, the Santa Maria Public Library, the Friends of the Orcutt Library, the County of Santa Barbara, and the local community, the new library will be nearly double the size of the old location which will allow for much-anticipated growth.
A grand opening ceremony is planned for Dec. 8 at 10 a.m., including a ribbon cutting and remarks from invited guests. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Orcutt Library. The new library will be open Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
