Yes; it's a train wreck.
No; it seems to be working just fine.

Paint in the plein air

The C Gallery—in collaboration with Mary Kay West, painter and student of John Mackah—is offering an intermediate painting workshop, “Illuminated Landscapes: Artisanal Use of Oils,” Oct. 5, 6, 7, and 8 at the 550-acre Price Ranch in Los Alamos.

A total of 12 students will be introduced to grounds and mediums developed in the golden age of plein air. Demonstrations, discussion, and lectures are included. Each student will receive samples of mediums and gessoed supports, made in studio. This four-day workshop addresses using oils in open air to capture atmosphere, luminosity, and texture, based on time-tested methods. Full materials and supply list will be provided with registration.

The fee is $750. Intent to register runs through September, with an initial deposit of $300 due by Sept. 7. The balance is due by Oct. 1.
