Lompoc Youth Theater will present its performance of The Music Man, Jr., a modified version of Meredith Wilson’s classic story of a charming traveling salesman who, by love, is transformed from conman to honest man. The production will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 27; Saturday, July 28; Friday, Aug. 3; and Saturday, Aug. 4. A 2 p.m. matinee will play Saturday, Aug. 4. All performances will be held at the Civic Auditorium, 217 South L St., in Lompoc.

The performance will include such songs as 76 Trombones, Wells Fargo Wagon, Trouble, and Goodnight My Someone.

Director Joyce Mayhew, Music Director Katie Fernandez, Choreographer Amanda Holsambeck, and more than 50 elementary through college students have partnered with the Lompoc Parks and Recreation Department to present this production.

Zach Schmidt plays conman Harold Hill and Kaley Bales plays stuffy librarian Marian Paroo. The set was designed by Laura Schmiser.

Lompoc Youth Theater has presented such productions as 2010’s Annie and 2011’s The Sound of Music, performed to an audience of more than 1,500 people.

Tickets can be purchased at Anderson Recreation Center and the Lompoc Aquatic Center or by calling 875-8100.
