PCPA presents 'Brighton Beach Memoirs'

The Pacific Conservatory Theatre’s (PCPA) production of Neil Simon’s Brighton Beach Memoirs opens at the Marian Theatre on Thursday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. The first entry in Simon’s autobiographical trilogy of plays (followed by Biloxi Blues and Broadway Bound), this coming-of-age comedy follows a teenager who dreams of baseball and girls while coping with life in Depression-era Brooklyn.

The cast includes Isaac Capp as Eugene, Romy Evans as Nora, Cameron Vargas as Stanley, Kitty Balay as Kate, Polly Firestone Walker as Blanche, Jana Price as Laurie, and Don Stewart as Jack. Due to some mature content, including sexual innuendo, the play is recommended for ages 12 and older. Performances will run through Sunday, March 1. Tickets range from $15 to $50.

A special talkback performance takes place on Friday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m., where members of the cast, crew, and artistic team will take part in a Q-and-A discussion after the show. For more details, call the PCPA Box Office at (805) 928-7731 or visit pcpa.org. The Marian Theatre is located at Allan Hancock College, 800 S. College Drive, Santa Maria.

Weekly Poll
What do you think of the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society merging with the Santa Barbara Humane Society?

I don't care who runs it, as long as they're still helping animals.
Hopefully it settles their funding issues.
It won't affect me. I get all my pets from breeders.
The entire county should operate as one Humane Society.
