Santa Maria Arts Council arts grants open for submission


The Santa Maria Arts Council is currently accepting applications for the 2019 Grants in the Arts Competition.

More than $13,000 in grants are available to amateur artists 12 years old and older who have studied art in Northern Santa Barbara Country for a minimum of two years. Categories include dance, drama, music, and visual arts. Prizes awarded include $1,500 for first place and $1,000 for second place, as well as $1,000 for the Ian M. Hassett Memorial Art Grant, $1,000 for the Valley Art Gallery Scholarship, and $1,000 for Nat D. Fast Memorial Performance Grant. Winners will be showcased in an event scheduled for May 6 at the Pacific Conservatory Theatre’s Marian Theatre located at Allan Hancock College.

The deadline for applications and materials is March 15. Auditions and judging are scheduled for April 6. The application is available online at
