Local teen's book adapted for new original musical

By REBECCA ROSE

The Purple Marble is Pacific Conservatory Theatre's (PCPA) upcoming Education and Outreach touring production for early 2018. The musical—available for a limited engagement—is based on local teen author Alyssa B. Antoci's book (written when she was 8 years old) and features a story about facing bullies and starting over.

The story revolves around Max, a boy who dreams of becoming a master chef. He plans to share his Fun and Fancy Pizza Cookbook with his fourth grade class, but his plans take an unexpected turn when he becomes a target of the class bully. As a result of the torment and ridicule, Max's first weeks of school are filled with fear, and his relationships with family and friends are damaged. However, when he finds a unique and beautiful purple marble, his luck begins to change. Ultimately Max is left with a tough choice between keeping his lucky streak going, or overcoming his bully in a most surprising way.
