Los Alamos to celebrate Old Days Sept. 23 - 25

Each year the Los Alamos Valley Men’s Club sponsors the Los Alamos Days Celebration, which showcases the town’s unique and historic character with a parade, artisan fair, car show, auctions, and more. The festivities begin with a chili kick-off party on the evening of Sept. 23 and continue through Sept. 25.

The Los Alamos Valley Men’s Club announced the grand marshal of the parade in a release issued Sept. 15. Jim Gravitt will lead the parade as marshal this year. The Old Days celebration is in its 70th year, he explained in the release, and is a highlight of the small, historic town.

“We have a great little community here in Los Alamos. Where else can you go to find a small, friendly town with so much to offer?” he said in the statement. “Looking back on those who preceded me, I am especially honored. I will stand tall and wear the badge proudly.”

The Los Alamos Old Days celebration takes place on Bell Street, just off Highway 101 in Los Alamos. More information is available at losalamosvalleyolddays.com or 344-3500.
