Dunes Center director honored

BY JOE PAYNE

The California State University system named Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center Executive Director Doug Jenzen a “distinguished alumnus” status for his work in Guadalupe.

Earning his bachelor’s degree in history at CSU Channel Islands and a master’s degree in history from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, Jenzen was awarded the distinction in the “Public Administration and Nonprofit” category. Calstate.edu lists the reasons Jenzen received the mention, among them his work facilitating the excavation of the Cecil B. DeMille 1923 Ten Commandment set, pinpointing the location of the iconic “Migrant Mother” photograph taken in Nipomo, publishing several historical books, and serving on various boards and task forces.

More information is available at calstate.edu or through the Dunes Center at 343-2455 or dunescenter.org.
