Santa Maria Arts Council calls for artists
By JOE PAYNE
The Santa Maria Arts Council is presenting its 2013 Birdhouse Fundraiser, which features 10 birdhouses painted by local artists to be raffled at the annual Autumn Arts Grapes and Grains Festival in October. The arts council currently needs artists to volunteer their talents in painting a birdhouse. Only five of the 10 birdhouses have been picked up by artists already, leaving another five in need of some artistic attention.
The birdhouses, once painted, need to be returned to the council by Sept. 17. Interested artists can pick up the bare birdhouses at the Aug. 21 arts council meeting at the Abel Maldonado Youth Center. More information is available at firstname.lastname@example.org or smartscouncil.org.
